An Update From Our Roastery (And a Big Thank You)
First things first: thank you. Every bag you've brewed, gifted, or recommended to a neighbor keeps our roaster warm and our dedicated team doing what we love. You deserve to hear news from us directly, so here it is.
Starting October 1st, we're introducing a new bag size and adjusting our pricing:
16 oz bag: $22 or $23, depending on the roast (about $1.38–$1.44/oz)
New 12 oz bag: $17 or $18, depending on the roast (about $1.42–$1.50/oz)
Why the change?
Green coffee prices have been volatile this year, and sourcing costs are at historic highs, especially for Certified Organic beans. We could have cut corners by switching suppliers, loosening our standards, or skimping on quality. We didn't want to do any of that. This small adjustment lets us keep sourcing and roasting the coffee you love without compromise. We believe the choices made long before coffee reaches our roaster matter – to the people who grow it, to the land where its grown, and ultimately to what ends up in your cup.
Continuing to bring value
Before settling on our new pricing, we looked at what other specialty coffee roasters in our region are currently charging. We found 12 oz bags ranging from roughly $17 to more than $30, depending on the roaster and the coffee. Our new 12 oz pricing of $17–$18 keeps Trager Brothers competitively priced within our regional specialty coffee market while allowing us to maintain our organic certification and sourcing standards.
And for customers who prefer buying coffee by the pound, our 16 oz bags aren’t going anywhere.
For our Subscribers, you have until October 15th to make any updates to your current subscription plan. Switch to the 12 oz bag option, or do nothing and you will continue to receive 16 oz but at the updated price.
Why add a 12 oz bag?
For years, Trager Brothers Coffee has been sold in full 16 oz bags in our roasteries and online. We know many of our longtime customers appreciate getting a full pound of coffee, and we wanted to preserve that option. At the same time, adding a 12 oz bag gives customers another choice and a lower price point. So rather than replacing our traditional 16 oz bag with something smaller, we’re offering both. Choose the 12 oz bag when that works better for you or stick with the full pound you’ve always gotten from us.
Mostly, we just want to thank you.
Coffee is personal.
